Best Appetizers at Disney Springs:
Disney Springs has transformed Walt Disney World’s former Downtown Disney into an outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment complex. You can find a culinary destination of its own, with a number of lively bars, impressive restaurants, and fun entertainment. The 120-acre complex includes four distinct areas: Marketplace, The Landing, Town Center, and West Side. Buses and water taxis operated by Disney Transport provide transportation between Disney Springs and other areas of Walt Disney World.
So many food venues----so many choices- We will concentrate on our favorites at Disney Springs.
Blaze Pizza- Build-Your-Own Pizza – This is a nationwide fast-food chain, but sit down and enjoy a fully customizable, made-to-order $10 pie. A visit to Blaze will result in receiving your own personal pizza pie. And though “personal size” typically implies “mini,” that’s not the case at Blaze. You could even get away with sharing a pie if your group has lots of things you all want to try in Disney Springs. Now you don’t have to pay Disney theme-park prices.
Boathouse --Firecracker Shrimp- Great atmosphere, including specialty cocktails and great food. The food here continues to live up to the hype. Located in the Landing area of Disney Springs, there is a rising star. It is the Boathouse Firecracker Shrimp. This is a shareable fried shrimp dish tossed in Siracha Mayo, Serrano Chillis, and Sweet Peppers. If you want to discover one of my favorites, for drinks, appetizers, and views, the Boathouse is the place to be.
Chef Art Smith's Homecomin'- Thigh High Chicken Biscuits- by Florida native and celebrity chef Art Smith. This is the ultimate restaurant’s sampler. It is a trio of crispy chicken thighs served between crumbly cheddar biscuits, and a bread & butter pickles. The chicken is also drizzled with hot honey. The sweet & spicy taste will pair well with a Sweet Tea Shine or one of the many cocktails on the menu.
Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’-Church Lady Deviled Eggs- Want to try something very different? Every item on the menu here is so flavorful and delicious. Many dishes are great Southern-inspired appetizers, but my favorite is the “Church Lady Deviled Eggs”. It is served with bacon on top and is served in a ceramic egg carton, and are so creamy that they literally felt as though they were melting in my mouth. Come get you some!
Fantasy Fare Food Truck- Corn Dog- A crunchy exterior, soft filling, and the slightest hint of sweetness render Disney’s made-to-order corn dogs perfect.
Frontera Cocina, Disney Springs - Guacamole and Chips -Frontera Cocina in Disney Springs takes eating tortilla chips with salsa to the next level. Order the traditional chips with a smoky chipotle, herb-filled salsa Verde. If you want to take it up 3 notches, treat yourself to one of their many varieties of guacamole. You can choose from Verde Guacamole (which comes with roasted poblanos, tomatillo, pepitas, cilantro, and onions) or Bacon Guacamole (Verde guacamole mixed with Nueske bacon), or Mango Guacamole (Verde guacamole mixed with fresh mango and tangy-spicy Tajin). All of these choices are fantastic and will give you that authentic Mexican flavor.
Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar -Chen’s BBQ Pork Skewers -Served in lettuce cups, this grilled pork belly with gojuchang pepper sauce, pickled vegetables, and cilantro was a hit with our group. An excellent lighter option -all elements balanced well and were served separated so you could determine how much or little of an aspect you wanted to enjoy.
Morimoto Asia- Spare Ribs — WOW! you gotta try the spare ribs! Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto teamed up with the Patina Restaurant Group to bring one of his hot spots to Disney Springs, and in the process has created an absolute must-try menu item The ribs were the star …If you want a hunk of meat off the bone, hold out for this one. Braised in a spicy-sweet hoisin concoction and lightly fried, these tender pork ribs are served in quarter or half racks and are easily Morimoto Asia’s most raved-about dish. The service was quick and attentive and the food was great
Morimoto Asia Street Food- Spicy Kimchi Ramen - The action for Morimoto Asia Street Food all takes place outside on the patio. This is a savory, salty bowl of freshly boiled noodles topped with strips of Bulgogi Beef, Scallion, Kimchi, Soy Marinated Egg, Beef and Chicken Broth. It is really good. Find it alongside other Japanese delights at the outdoor kiosk attached to Morimoto’s full-service restaurant.
Paddlefish at Disney Springs -LOBSTER GUACAMOLE – We found this dish to have big chunks of fresh Maine lobster and it provides a sweet textual contrast to classic creamy guacamole, which gets amped up even more with zesty tajin seasoning.
Paddlefish at Disney Springs - Crab Cake- You can get Crab Cakes at a number of Disney World locations, but we think this is the best one. Arriving at your table is a large cake made out of blue crab. It is served with a fried green tomato and a bed of maque choux. The great remoulade sauce is the perfect way to start your meal in an incredible atmosphere. Paddlefish was formerly known as Fulton’s Crab House.
Splitsville Dining Room -Loaded Fries. If you try to find loaded fries around Disney World they are in short supply. Head to Disney Springs you will find them at Splitsville Dining Room. They are cheese covered fries, with sides of sour cream and scallions. Try this instead of your standard nacho appetizer. Enjoy this dish with live music and a retro bowling alley and Splitsville can offer an exceptional and memorable experience.
Wine Bar George -Crispy Mac and Cheese Bites - A spicy jalapeno cracker crust that is stuffed with mascarpone, Havarti, fontina, and pecorino and fried. ABSOLUTELY delicious.
